 red oak buffet
This project required a tall and slim buffet cabinet. The top of the buffet acts as the counter-top surface for a pass-thru from the kitchen. The floors in the dining room are red oak, and red oak was chosen as the cabinet wood. Solid red oak and red oak plywood are used on all exterior surfaces.
The buffet (or side board) has panel doors set flush, that match the design of the kitchen cabinets, which you can see through the pass-thru (and in the next photo). Flush doors are a little more expensive, as they require much more accuracy in fitting. The cabinet is lightly stained, and a lacquer finish applied inside and out. I also made the red oak plate rail seen above the pass-thru.
